DirectX (or can be called Direct3D) is a collection _ of APIs to handle a variety of tasks in multimedia, especially game programming a computer in Microsoft Windows operating systems. DirectX itself is a combination of Direct3D, DirectDraw, DirectMusic, DirectPlay, and DirectSound. DirectX SDK can be obtained free of charge from Microsoft. The latest version for Windows Vista for launch sometime in January 2007 is a DirectX 10.
Microsoft announced DirectX 11 in Gamefest 08, Seattle, with support for GPGPU, tessellation support, improvements _ to support multi-threading to help game developers use the data processing unit (also called processor) multi-core processors. _ Direct X 11 will be used in the operating system vista, seven and generations beyond. Multi-threading mechanism is able to support hardware-based Direct3D 9/10 / 10.1. Tessellation and Shader Model 5.0 requires hardware-based Direct _ 3D 11. Microsoft itself has released a review of 3D teknis.Direct 11 will be released to the factory in July. and released _ to the public in October.
DirectX 11 or DX11, the latest generation of graphics technology, comes with Windows 7. A good news for the game player _ in line with the presence of new games based on Windows that utilize this technology in providing a level of detail that is inordinately high.
The gaming software developers _ will take advantage of DirectX11 technology _ in creating world-game richer, more realistic characters, and the plot of the game is more flowing.
Tessellation - this is being implemented on the GPU (Graphic Processor Unit) for surface calculations clicking / field more subtle curves that generate a graphical image detail, more vivid characters in the world of gaming. Multi-Threading - able to do pen-scale early on the type of multi-core processor, will memmungkinkan game developers take advantage of the great power that is in-multicore CPUs. The result is a frame-rate is higher / faster for gaming, but still support the increased detail more detailed picture. Direct Compute - the game developers can utilize the power of a separate graphics card (off-board) to spur non-gaming applications and games. This will improve the graphical display, and at the same time allowing players to spur application / task-daily such as video-editing on Windows 7 PC platform.
While the full Windows 7-compatible _ with games and hardware that uses DirectX-old version, then all fiture / capabilities contained in the DirectX-11 will only be available in the game and the latest graphics cards that are specifically designed to take advantage of this new technology (dX-11).
