Negro amari
Yesterday I went and got me to eat at the restaurant CHAPEAU d'Or. I had pasta with beef and mushroom sauce which was pretty good, a bit pipruð actually but it was okay. With this I had a glass of Candido Cappello di Prete Negro amari 2006, which comes from an area called Salento in Puglia region (the heel of Italy). The wine is made from grapes Negro amari, and I think certainly that I have never tried a wine from the grapes before. ps It was a dark wine with a slightly sweet youthful eikar- and cherry aroma, slightly spicy with a hint of liquorice. In the mouth it's Fresh, little tannin but more of the acid, slightly sweet with a hint short but decent finish. ps
These grapes Negro amari, is almost exclusively grown in Puglia, and in fact, some of the best wines from Puglia precisely from this grape and comes just from Salento! Otherwise press in wide use to mix with the wine of such Sangiovese and Montepulciano.
