The new versions feature a small "C-stick" analog pad on the right hand side above SNES-like colored face buttons. During the presentation, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata compared the pad to the GameCube controller's own yellow C-stick. Unlike the old models, the new 3DS and 3DS XL have NFC-tech built in, meaning they can communicate with Amiibo figurines (like the ones coming for Super Smash Bros. ) without need of an extra device picmonkey . Nintendo's also introduced a Micro SD slot underneath the base cover, while new "Super Stable 3D" functionality is designed to ensure picmonkey the 3D features stay sharp and comfortable, even when the 3DS is rotated (see below). The new devices also have revised dimensions, as shown in images below. Furthermore, the 3DS cartridge slot has been moved to the front, leaving more space on the back for extra buttons. The handheld's back now features R, ZR, L and ZL buttons, with the power adapter slot moved center. Meanwhile, the battery life of the new 3DS is 3.5 to 6 hours when using 3DS software. For the 3DS XL, it's 3.5 to 7 hours. Nintendo also notes the new 3DS screens picmonkey are larger than those of the old model. The new models launch in Japan on October 11, with the new 3DS priced 16,000 yen (around $154) and the new 3DS XL 18,800 yen ($181). The new 3DS XL will be available in Metallic Blue and Metallic Black, and the new 3DS in White and Black. A Nintendo press release notes: "As for the overseas picmonkey markets, our local subsidiaries will separately confirm. However, there will be no U.S. and European launches this calendar year." Update: Nintendo unveiled Wii JRPG Xenoblade Chronicles for the new 3DS. The company says the game will only run on the new 3DS, and that's because of its enhanced CPU. 3. Today in Japan, Nintendo released a new Nintendo 3DS er, make that, the New Nintendo 3DS. I bought one for Kotaku , so let's see how it sizes up to its predecessor. At last month's Tokyo Game Show, I checked out the New Nintendo 3DS XL and was quite impressed with what I saw. While I've only had the NN3DS for a few hours, you can expect more detailed impressions later this week. One of my favorite things so far about the New Nintendo udacity 3DS is that it's covered in matte plastic. The handheld is smooth and easy to the touch. While I like the way the original 3DS looks, the plastic can get sweaty after extended periods of play. Those who like a glossy plastic can swap out the faceplates to something else. Here's a closer look at the Dpad: The New Nintendo 3DS's screen is 1.5 times bigger than the original 3DS's screen. The handheld has a new C-Stick as well as new ZL and ZR should buttons. The 3DS has been out for over three and a half years now and has sold a respectable 44 million units to date, with a steady stream of great games along the way. But sales have slowed, and it won t match the runaway success of its predecessor. Many of the 154 million people that bought an original Nintendo DS were the same people that now consider smartphones more than enough for their mobile gaming needs. And so, with Sony s PS Vita doing little to disprove the notion that dedicated portable games consoles are over as a growth market, Nintendo is revamping the 3DS in the way it knows best: by concentrating on its core audience. The New Nintendo 3DS out now in Japan, next month in Australia and New Zealand, and next year elsewhere has a faster processor than its predecessor. It has customizable rm faceplates. It does a neat trick that makes the 3D effect much better. It even has a second analog stick (of sorts). The New 3DS comes in two new versions that more or less differ only in their physical size. That s not to say that they re otherwise identical the New 3DS XL has a very similar design to the existing 3DS XL, but the regular New 3DS does a better rm job of justifying the name. Its screens are a little rm bigger than the original 3DS , and the physical design has been given a neat revamp, moving all the ports and switches from the sides of the device to the bottom; rm the system feels much tidier and
3. I'm not saying the original 3DS is bad. I'm not saying that at all. What I'm saying is that the New Nintendo 3DS seems so good. It would've been nice to have this from the get go. The New Nintendo 3DS is a revamped 3DS with a corny "New" in its official name. There is nothing corny about this handheld, though. It's as though Nintendo took a long, hard look at what was lacking and then tried to address that with the New Nintendo 3DS. The hardware comes in two flavors: standard-sized and XL (which is called "LL" in Japan, because there is no "XL" clothing size). These units are slightly different dimensions from the previous hardware. In Japan, Nintendo is charging 1,000 yen for simple colored face plates and up to 3,000 yen for more elaborate ones. This is probably easier (and cheaper) for Nintendo than releasing special edition NN3DS handhelds. Those who like special damien hirst edition hardware, take heart: Nintendo is releasing limited edition NN3DS XL units as the consoles don't have faceplates. There are also new ZR and ZL buttons. They are fairly comfortable, and you can easily press them with the tips of your fingers and then press the R and L shoulder buttons with the middle of your finger, no problem. At least, I could. For extra storage, the New Nintendo 3DS also uses a Micro SD Card, which is located under the handheld's cover. And what about juice? The battery life for the New Nintendo 3DS is from 3.5 to 6 hours, while the battery life for the New Nintendo 3DS XL is from 3.5 to 7 hours. In comparison, the "old" 3DS has a battery life of 3 to 5 hours, and the "old" 3DS XL has a battery life of 3.5 to 6.5 hours. Speed: Thankfully, the New Nintendo 3DS is faster. It downloads and boots games quicker, which is incredibly welcome. When Nintendo originally announced the NN3DS and trumpeted its "faster speed," I thought, eh, whatever. Big mistake! Going back to the original 3DS after using the New Nintendo 3DS makes you notice just. How. Slow. The handheld is. C-Stick: For years now, players have been asking Nintendo for a second control input to control the in-game camera and more. So far, the C-Stick seems to do a serviceable job as a camera control in Monster Hunter 4G and, more importantly, it's a welcome addition to Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS . Larger Screen (on the regular-sized NN3DS): The NN3DS XL's screen is the same size as the 3DS XL's, but the standard-sized New Nintendo 3DS does get a larger screen. As with the increased speed, the larger screen is most welcomed. It makes the handheld a little easier on the eyes, and actually makes the NN3DS a decent compromise damien hirst for those who want a slightly larger screen, but don't want a large handheld like the XL. Better 3D: For years, I've hated the 3D effect for the Nintendo 3DS. Hated it! I didn't like how it felt like I was also adjusting the slider should my head move. It was not a pleasant experience for me, at least. Yes, I realize many other gamers damien hirst enjoy the effect. Well, good news, those folks should really enjoy how the Nintendo pulls off the 3D effect with the NN3DS. And grumps like me, who hated the original effect , might want to give it a second chance with the New Nintendo 3DS. Since the NN3DS now has head tracking software, it adjusts to you instead of you adjusting to it. This makes a world of difference, and I've found the 3D surprisingly comfortable. It might have been a cost issue at the time, but Nintendo should have launched damien hirst the original 3DS with this tech. I feel like it finally fulfils Nintendo's original promise damien hirst of 3D gaming. The Touch Pen: Okay, it's...a touch pen. A stylus! Nothing damien hirst revolutionary about that. But, the top end of it has a little tool that can help you pry off the changeable faceplates. It's a small touch, but clever. Look and Feel: I'll tell you want: The white with Super Famicom-colored buttons New Nintendo 3DS looks utterly fantastic. It's really a lovely portable. The nice, matte finish is smooth to the touch, and the NN3DS is just a pleasure to look at and play. It's subtle and classy. I like it. Power Button: I've previously addressed this , and it really feels like a design flaw. The power button is oddly...small. And because damien hirst of that, you can press directly on it and not power on or off the consoles, because your thumb doesn't end up applying pressure to the small, round button. It reminds me of using a toothpick to put in a hole on a CD-ROM drive to get it to eject. damien hirst While some gamers might think it's great that the console is hard to turn on (and off, for that matter) because they always leave their handheld in sleep, I just wonder why Nintendo damien hirst couldn't use a more oblong-shaped power button that would still prevent it from turning on or off accidentally, but give you more real estate to press on when you power on or off the machine. 3. Now that Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS is out on, well, the 3DS in Japan, people are playing it. And some of those people rijksmuseum are reporting that the game is resulting in broken Slide Pads. Players, like Twitter user ZELDA96320045 (below), are even seeing their Slide Pads coming rijksmuseum off during the demo. Last week, this was reported on Japanese internet forum 2ch . After the game went on sale this weekend, there have been further 2ch reports of this happening. Many of the busted pads appear on regular 3DS units, but there are also a few photos of XL handhelds with ruined pads floating around. Below, you can see photos of the damage Smash Bros. is apparently unleashing on some people's portables right after it hit Japan. Animal Crossing is hardly a button-mashing fighting game. Retailers won’t zune give you that good of a deal, but if you sold your old system for $100 on your own the new one would only be $80. The common retail deals, at places like gamestop, are super not worth it. If you watch pawn stars or any of the those other shows, the principle is the same–you are not getting what the item is actually worth because you are not selling the item to somebody who wants it, you are selling to to somebody who wants to sell it for profit. The difference? You’re selling a popular item that you’d have no trouble zune at all finding a buyer for on your own. In regards to what? It’s already out in Japan and AUS. I’d say the original still has another yr or two and I doubt the 2DS will be discontinued anytime soon. It’s a waste of money for us and them when the n3ds is miles better with the exact same features plus more. ‘Budget 3DS’s’ will still be around even when they aren’t mass producing them for those year or twos. Also, it had a very slick and stylish look. Why even mention pocket fitting? The GBASP fit just fine into your pocket. During the company’s clipart recent financial briefing, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata took time to address the current release schedule of the New Nintendo 3DS and 3DS LL (as it’s called clipart in Japan). The system is available there, but it won’t see the Western world until 2015… except for Australia, which will see the system before the end of this year. In Japan, the total number of sales of Nintendo 3DS has reached nearly 17 million in the three and a half years since its launch. It is almost the same as the lifetime sales of GameBoy Advance released in 2001, which implies that it is reasonable that the sales of Nintendo 3DS have been temporarily slow moving in the Japanese market. This is one of the reasons we needed to bring New Nintendo clipart 3DS/3DS XL to the market this year. That bold emphasis is my own. In the Japanese market, both hardware and software tend to sell during a short period along with a quick spread of information on them. In the U.S. and Europe, on the other hand, highly acclaimed games are likely to be longtime sellers. Japan needed the New Nintendo 3DS models. The handheld’s sales pace slowed down significantly, likely because clipart it had reached market oversaturation. The same can’t be said for the U.S. and Europe yet, according to Nintendo, so it’ll let the current 3DS models live through another holiday before rolling out new ones.
